Claxton’s has an ever-growing cask inventory that includes a wide variety of young and mature spirit. Fresh oak casks have been specifically sourced and selected for maturation from global sources in a variety of sizes and finishes. The sourcing of these casks requires time and research to ensure the highest quality maturation results, something that we have invested heavily in over the years and continue to do so.

It all starts with selecting the right whiskies. Great time and care is taken in sourcing whisky from across all of the regions to mature in our long term maturation warehouses.
wood selection
A significant part of cask maturation is the wood itself. Time and great care is taken in visiting Bodegas across Spain to ensure the right casks are used. Varying levels of char and spirit are required in the casks selected and used.
We wait!
Once the whisky has been re-racked into the new casks, it’s all a matter of patience. Cask maturation can take anywhere from 2 months to 20 years and beyond! The spirit is regularly checked and tested to ensure we are bottling at the whiskies’ peak.
